Lighting Installation
When there is a need for new lighting installation on your premises, some basic questions need to be answered in order to get the best possible results.
LOCATION
Is the lighting required indoors or outdoors? Most often, indoor fixtures are different from outdoor fixtures because the requirements are different.
PURPOSE
What is being illuminated and for what purpose? Is the need aesthetic or for safety reasons? For instance outdoor parking lot lighting is generally for security and safety. But, outdoor lighting for automobile dealerships is usually much brighter because there is an added need to showcase the cars.
FUNCTION
What types of activities are being carried out where this illumination is needed? The use of space defines what type of lighting is needed. Warehouse lighting, for example, does not need to be as bright as that for an assembly line where precision and speed may be required.
OTHER FACTORS
Amount of energy consumption
Energy savings is increasingly becoming one of the main considerations in new lighting installation. It is especially true when looking at a large quantity of fixtures where the cumulative wattage use is substantial. (See also LED lighting & Lighting Rebates)
Cost of Fixtures
For example, staying with standard HID or fluorescent technology generally costs less than opting for more advanced LED technology
Cost of Installation
While the labor cost is constant, the equipment part of the installation may vary depending on height and accessibility of installation, and is another factor that is considered in the overall decision.
